The Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) has ordered internet service providers to block another 14 illegal gambling websites that were found to be operating in violation of the country’s Interactive Gambling Act 2001.

The latest enforcement action is part of ACMA’s ongoing campaign against offshore gambling operators targeting Australian consumers without the required authorization.

More Than 1,300 Websites Now Blocked

With the latest round of action, the total number of gambling and affiliate websites blocked since ACMA launched its website blocking program in November 2019 has exceeded 1,300.

The regulator says website blocking remains one of its most effective enforcement tools, making it significantly harder for Australian players to access unlicensed gambling services.

In addition to blocking domains, ACMA regularly investigates illegal operators and refers cases to international regulators where appropriate.

Hundreds of Operators Have Left the Australian Market

Since ACMA began actively enforcing Australia’s online gambling laws in 2017, more than 220 illegal gambling services have withdrawn from the Australian market after regulatory intervention.

The regulator continues to encourage consumers to use only licensed domestic betting services and warns that offshore operators often lack adequate consumer protections, dispute resolution mechanisms, and responsible gambling safeguards.

ACMA Urges Players to Check Licensed Operators

Alongside the enforcement announcement, ACMA reminded consumers to verify whether a gambling operator is legally licensed before depositing funds.

The regulator maintains a public register of licensed wagering operators and provides guidance to help Australians identify illegal gambling websites.

Officials also urged consumers to report suspicious gambling services that appear to target Australian players without authorization.
