Polymarket has announced a temporary free grocery store in New York City called “The Polymarket”. The pop-up is set to begin on February 12 in Manhattan and is expected to run through February 16, though the company says operating hours and even the final day could still shift.

The concept is deliberately simple: the space will be fully stocked with everyday essentials and visitors won’t face any requirements to take groceries. Polymarket is framing the project as an open-to-all, short-run store rather than a permanent retail launch.

A short-run store designed as a pop-up activation

Polymarket says the idea has been in the works for months, with the company covering the practical build-out costs that come with running a real storefront starting with leasing a Manhattan location for a limited window.

While the exact address hasn’t been consistently published across listings, multiple reports note that details like location and hours may be updated closer to opening reinforcing that this is a time-boxed pop-up, not a fixed new grocery brand.

$1M to Food Bank NYC and a nod to Kalshi’s giveaway

Alongside the pop-up, Polymarket said it donated $1 million to Food Bank For New York City, the nonprofit supporting anti-hunger programs across all five boroughs positioning the stunt as both marketing and direct support.

The announcement also follows a similar headline-grabbing move by competitor Kalshi: reports say a Kalshi-backed promotion covered up to $50 per shopper at a Westside Market location in New York, drawing significant attention (and long lines).
